Eight-spotted Skimmer
Libellula forensis
Adults patrol sunny ponds, marshes, and nearby open fields, often perching on low vegetation between flights. They catch flying insects such as mosquitoes, flies, and smaller dragonflies in mid-air. Males are conspicuous for the dark spots and pale patches on their wings, which give the species its name.
