Eight-spotted Skimmer Nymph
Libellula forensis (nymph)

This aquatic nymph lives among submerged plants and muddy bottoms in ponds, marshes, and slow-moving water. It waits in ambush for mosquito larvae, small aquatic insects, and tiny tadpoles, then shoots out its hinged lower jaw to seize prey. A powerful jet of water expelled from its abdomen can propel it away from danger.
