Dead Leaf Mantis Nymph
Deroplatys desiccata (nymph)
This wingless nymph lives among leaf litter and low vegetation in Southeast Asian tropical forests. It waits motionless in ambush, seizing tiny insects with its spined grasping forelegs. Its flattened body and mottled brown colouring resemble a curled dead leaf, and it repeatedly molts as it grows.
