Sora Juvenile
Porzana carolina (juvenile)

Juvenile Soras develop brown, streaked plumage that helps them disappear among cattails, sedges, and muddy marsh margins. They forage independently for insects, small snails, seeds, and other plant material while making quick dashes through dense cover. Their flight feathers are growing in, allowing short, low flights between patches of vegetation.
