Black-billed Magpie Hatchling
Pica hudsonia (hatchling)

A hatchling stays hidden in a domed stick nest built in shrubs or trees across open woodlands, ranchlands, and riparian edges. It is mostly naked to sparsely downy at first and depends entirely on adults for insects and other soft food. Its main behaviors are gaping, begging calls, and crouching low when disturbed. Even at this stage, the long tail and bold black-and-white pattern have not yet developed.
