Cuban Crocodile Hatchling
Crocodylus rhombifer (hatchling)
Cuban crocodile hatchlings shelter among dense wetland vegetation and shallow freshwater margins in Cuba. They hunt insects, small fish, crustaceans, and tiny amphibians, snapping quickly at nearby prey. Young crocodiles are vulnerable to birds, larger reptiles, and adult crocodiles, so they rely on camouflage and rapid dashes into water.
