Canis megamastoides
Canis megamastoides
This large prehistoric canid roams open grassland, scrub, and woodland edges in search of prey. It hunts by pursuing weakened animals and gripping with powerful jaws, while also scavenging carcasses when available. Its diet consists chiefly of medium to large herbivores, supplemented by smaller animals and carrion. The broad skull and exceptionally robust teeth suggest an animal adapted for delivering formidable bites.
