Equus excelsus Foal
Equus excelsus (foal)

Equus excelsus foals stayed close to their mothers on open grasslands and river plains of prehistoric North America. They fed first on milk, then began nibbling soft grasses and other low vegetation. A foal relied on quick bursts of running and sharp kicks to escape danger. Its long legs developed rapidly soon after birth.
