Buteo fluviaticus Chick
Buteo fluviaticus (chick)

This down-covered chick remains in a stick nest near wooded river corridors and wetlands. It is fed small mammals, reptiles, and fish brought by its parents, tearing food into manageable pieces with its hooked bill. Before it can fly, it defends itself by pecking and gripping with developing talons. Chicks rapidly exercise their wings in the nest ahead of their first flights.
