European Rabbit Kit
Oryctolagus cuniculus (kit)

Newborn European rabbit kits stay hidden in a shallow nest chamber lined with grass and fur, usually underground in a warren. They are blind, nearly hairless at birth, and depend on brief milk feedings from the mother rather than following her around. Their diet is entirely milk at first, shifting toward soft vegetation as they grow. A notable fact is that the mother visits the nest only briefly, which helps avoid drawing predators to the kits.
