Culex winchesteri
Culex winchesteri
The adult mosquito flies around freshwater habitats and nearby vegetation, resting in shaded cover between flights. Males feed mainly on flower nectar, while females also seek blood meals needed to produce eggs. Its narrow wings beat rapidly enough to create the familiar high-pitched mosquito whine.
