Brown Bear Cub
Ursus arctos (cub)

Brown bear cubs are born in winter dens and spend their first months close to their mother in forests, alpine meadows, tundra edges, and river valleys. They nurse at first, then begin sampling berries, roots, insects, fish scraps, and other foods their mother finds. Cubs climb well and often use trees or cover to avoid danger. A notable fact is that they are tiny at birth compared with the adult they can become, often weighing less than a kilogram when born.
