Eastern Green Lizard
Lacerta viridis

Adult Eastern Green Lizards live in sunny woodland edges, hedgerows, vineyards, grasslands, and rocky scrub with dense vegetation nearby. They hunt insects, spiders, snails, and other small animals, using bursts of speed to chase or seize prey. Males become especially striking in the breeding season, often showing a vivid blue throat during territorial and courtship displays. When threatened, they usually flee into cover but can bite and thrash if caught.
