Sand Lizard Juvenile
Lacerta agilis (juvenile)

Juveniles occupy the same sunny sandy habitats as adults but keep closer to dense grass, heather, and low scrub where they can escape larger predators. They hunt small beetles, flies, spiders, and larvae, using quick lunges after basking to warm up. Young sand lizards are usually browner and more cryptic than breeding males, helping them disappear against soil and dry stems. They grow slowly in cooler climates and may take several years to mature.
