Wandering Glider Nymph
Pantala flavescens (nymph)
The nymph lives underwater in ponds, marshes, flooded fields, and temporary pools. It is an ambush predator, feeding on mosquito larvae, small aquatic insects, and other tiny animals it can seize with its extendable mouthparts. Its muted body helps it wait unseen among mud and vegetation. This stage can develop quickly, allowing the species to use short-lived rain pools before they dry out.
