Scaly-breasted Munia Fledgling
Lonchura punctulata (fledgling)
A fledgling Scaly-breasted Munia has left the nest but still keeps to dense grasses, reeds, shrubs, and crop edges where cover is close by. It makes short, fluttering flights and follows adults while learning to pick small seeds from grass heads. Its plumage is plainer and browner than the adult’s, without the strong scaly breast pattern. This stage is especially vulnerable, relying on quick hops, quiet hiding, and begging calls while it gains flight skill.
