Scaly-breasted Munia
Lonchura punctulata
The adult Scaly-breasted Munia is a small seed-eating finch of grasslands, rice fields, scrub, wetlands edges, parks, and village gardens across South and Southeast Asia. It feeds mainly on grass seeds and cultivated grains, using its stout conical bill to husk small seeds efficiently. Adults are agile fliers over short distances and often perch on grass stems while foraging. Its white underparts marked with dark scale-like patterning give the species its common name.
