Malayan Tapir Calf
Acrocodia indica (calf)
Newborn Malayan tapirs live in dense tropical forest under close cover from their mothers. Their brown coats are marked with pale spots and stripes, breaking up their outline in dappled vegetation. They feed on milk at first, then begin nibbling tender leaves, shoots, and fallen fruit. This camouflage pattern fades as they grow into the adult black-and-white saddle pattern.
