Crimson Rosella
Platycercus elegans

The adult Crimson Rosella lives in forests, wooded gardens, parks, and mountain woodlands of eastern and southeastern Australia. It flies strongly between trees and feeds mostly on seeds, fruits, flowers, nectar, and leaf buds, using its beak and feet with typical parrot dexterity. Adults defend nest hollows and may bite, peck, call sharply, or flutter aggressively when threatened. Its vivid red and blue plumage is striking, but regional populations can vary greatly in colour, including yellow and orange forms within the same species complex.
