Lesser Kestrel Hatchling
Falco naumanni (hatchling)
A downy chick that remains hidden in a nest cavity on cliffs, old buildings, or roof spaces within a loose colony. It cannot fly and depends on adults bringing insects and small prey to the nest. Its main behaviours are begging loudly, crouching for warmth, and giving small defensive pecks if handled. A notable feature is its rapid growth, with wing and tail feathers beginning to push through within the first weeks.
