Olive-sided Flycatcher Fledgling
Contopus cooperi (fledgling)

A fledgling Olive-sided Flycatcher has left the nest but still stays close to branches and cover in forest openings, burns, bog edges, or tall snags. It makes short, uneven flights and is still fed by adults while it practices perching and balance. Its diet is mostly the same aerial insects delivered by the parents, though it begins watching and lunging at small prey. This stage is especially vulnerable because it can move, call, and flutter, but cannot yet fly with adult precision.
