Helmeted Guineafowl Keet
Numida meleagris (keet)

Newly hatched keets keep low in grassland, savanna edges, and farm scrub where cover helps hide them from predators. They feed mostly on tiny insects, seeds, and tender plant matter while following adults closely. Their downy camouflage and quick running are more important than flight at this stage. A notable fact is that keets become active and mobile soon after hatching, rather than staying helpless in a nest.
