Atlantic Ghost Crab
Ocypode quadrata

Atlantic ghost crabs live on sandy beaches and dunes along the western Atlantic, where they dig deep burrows above the tide line. They are mostly nocturnal, sprinting across open sand to scavenge plant matter, carrion, insects, and small animals. Their pale coloration blends with dry sand, and their large eyes give them excellent all-around vision. A notable trait is their speed: ghost crabs are among the fastest-running crabs for their size.
