Dor Beetle Larva
Geotrupes stercorarius (larva)

The larva lives underground in brood chambers stocked with dung by the adults, especially beneath pastures, woodland edges, and old grazing land. It feeds on buried dung rather than hunting, growing safely below the surface where moisture and shelter are stable. Its soft, pale body is curled and grub-like, with small mandibles suited for chewing organic material. A notable trait is its dependence on the adult-built tunnel system, which gives it food and protection from many surface predators.
