Lion
Panthera leo
Adult lions inhabit grasslands, savannas, scrub, and open woodland, where cover and prey are available. They feed mainly on large hoofed mammals, using stalking, short rushes, grappling claws, and powerful bites to bring prey down. Adults also scavenge when possible and defend space with scent marking, threat displays, and deep roars. One notable fact is that a lion's roar can carry several kilometers across open country.
