Vine Weevil Larva
Otiorhynchus sulcatus (larva)

A pale, legless grub that lives hidden in soil and compost around host plants. It feeds on fine roots, tubers, and root crowns, often causing wilting before the damage is noticed above ground. When disturbed, it curls into a C-shape and relies on concealment rather than speed. This underground feeding stage is the main cause of plant injury in gardens and nurseries.
