Bearded Vulture
Gypaetus barbatus

A large mountain vulture of cliffs and high alpine valleys across parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia. It soars for long periods while searching for carrion, feeding heavily on bones and marrow rather than fresh meat. Hard bones are carried into the air and dropped onto rocks to crack them open. Its powerful stomach acid can digest bone, a rare specialization among birds.
