Wheel Bug Nymph
Arilus cristatus (nymph)
A young wheel bug lives among leaves, stems, and bark where small insects pass within reach. It is a wingless ambush predator that seizes prey with its front legs and pierces it with a sharp beak. Its diet includes soft-bodied insects and other small arthropods. Unlike the adult, the nymph lacks the raised wheel-like crest and must rely more on camouflage and short-range strikes.
