Hummingbird Clearwing Moth Larva
Hemaris thysbe (larva)

This green or brown caterpillar lives on host plants such as honeysuckle, hawthorn, cherry, and snowberry in gardens, woodland edges, and shrubby fields. It feeds by chewing leaves and often rests along stems where its color helps it blend in. When disturbed, it may rear up or curl, showing the small tail horn typical of sphinx moth larvae. Its main job at this stage is rapid growth before leaving the plant to pupate in sheltered litter or loose soil.
