Varied Carpet Beetle
Anthrenus verbasci
The adult is a tiny, rounded beetle often found outdoors on flowers, where it feeds mainly on pollen and nectar. It can fly between blooms and may also enter buildings to lay eggs near suitable larval food. Its patchwork of pale, brown, and yellowish scales helps break up its outline on rough surfaces. Although harmless to fabrics as an adult, it is the stage responsible for dispersal and starting new infestations.
