Varied Carpet Beetle Pupa
Anthrenus verbasci (pupa)

The pupa develops in a sheltered spot within the last larval skin, usually near the dry animal-based material where the larva fed. It does not feed or actively forage during this transformation stage, remaining largely still and concealed in cracks, fabrics, nests, or stored goods. Its retained larval skin and tough outer covering provide some protection while the adult beetle forms inside. After development is complete, the adult emerges and disperses to flowers or new egg-laying sites.
