Asian Common Toad
Duttaphrynus melanostictus

A highly adaptable nocturnal toad found around villages, gardens, plantations, forests, drains, and wet fields across much of South and Southeast Asia. It eats insects, worms, and other small invertebrates by lunging and snapping them up with a sticky tongue. During the day it shelters under stones, logs, soil cracks, or human-made cover to avoid heat and drying. Large parotoid glands behind the eyes secrete potent toxins, making it distasteful or dangerous to many predators.
