Moon Jelly
Aurelia aurita

The adult moon jelly is a translucent, saucer-shaped jellyfish common in temperate and subtropical coastal seas, harbors, and lagoons. It drifts with currents and pulses its bell to stay oriented while capturing plankton, fish eggs, and tiny larvae with mucus-coated oral arms and fine tentacles. Its sting is mild to most people but effective against very small prey. The four horseshoe-shaped reproductive organs visible through the bell are one of its best-known field marks.
