White-winged Dove
Zenaida asiatica

An adult dove of arid scrub, thorn forest, farmland, orchards, and city neighborhoods across warm parts of the Americas. It forages mostly on seeds, grains, and fruits, often walking on the ground and flying to trees or cacti for cover and nesting. In flight, broad white wing patches flash conspicuously, and the bird can launch quickly with strong, direct wingbeats. One notable fact is that adults feed nestlings crop milk, a nutrient-rich secretion produced in the crop.
