White-winged Dove Chick
Zenaida asiatica (chick)

A downy nestling that stays hidden in a loose twig nest in shrubs, trees, or cactus-like cover near open scrub and towns. It depends on its parents for warmth and is fed rich crop milk before gradually receiving softened seeds. Its main behaviours are crouching low, begging with soft calls, and making small pecks as its bill and pinfeathers develop. A notable feature is how quickly the wing feathers grow, preparing the chick for fledging within a short nesting period.
