Dock Bug Nymph
Coreus marginatus (nymph)
The wingless nymph lives on and around dock, sorrel, and related plants in grassy edges, hedgerows, and rough gardens. It feeds by inserting a fine beak into plant tissue and sucking sap rather than chewing leaves. When disturbed, it can rely on small scent glands and a firm, flattened body to deter predators. As it grows, it molts through several instars before developing full wings.
