Tokay Gecko
Gekko gecko
Adult tokay geckos are large nocturnal geckos of forests, cliffs, plantations, and human buildings across South and Southeast Asia. They ambush insects, other lizards, small frogs, and occasional small vertebrates, striking with a famously strong bite. Adults are territorial, especially males, and advertise with loud repeated calls that sound like “to-kay.” Their adhesive toe pads use microscopic hairs to grip smooth surfaces without glue.
