Locust Borer
Megacyllene robiniae

An adult longhorn beetle often found on goldenrod and near black locust trees in late summer and autumn. It feeds on pollen and nectar, while females seek cracks in bark where eggs can be laid. The adult is more mobile than the larva and can fly between flowers and host trees. Its black-and-yellow pattern closely resembles a wasp, a notable mimicry that helps discourage predators.
