Great Grey Owl Owlet
Strix nebulosa (owlet)

A Great Grey Owl owlet grows in a tree nest or broken-topped snag in northern forest, relying on dense down and stillness for protection. It is fed small mammals, especially voles, brought by its parents and may clamber onto nearby branches before it can fly well. When threatened, it crouches, hisses, and snaps its beak rather than hunting on its own. Its pale, fluffy plumage helps break up its outline against bark and nest debris.
