Indian Peafowl Juvenile
Pavo cristatus (juvenile)

Indian peafowl juveniles forage along forest margins, scrubland, village fields, and riverine thickets. They spend more time moving independently, scratching through leaf litter for insects, seeds, berries, and other small food items. Their wings strengthen enough for short flights to low branches and safer night roosts. Young males remain much duller than adult peacocks for many months, with the full ornamental train developing only later.
