European Greenfinch
Chloris chloris

The adult European Greenfinch lives around woodland edges, hedgerows, orchards, parks, gardens, and farmland across much of Europe. It feeds mainly on seeds, using a strong conical bill to crack tough husks, and also takes buds and berries when available. Adults are sociable outside the breeding season but defend nesting areas with calls, chases, and display flights. Males are especially notable for their yellow wing flashes and wheezing, twittering song delivered from perches or in a slow display flight.
