Western Gorilla Infant
Gorilla gorilla (infant)

Western gorilla infants live in dense lowland and swamp forests of central Africa, almost always carried or closely guarded by their mother. At this stage they are dependent, spending much of the day clinging, nursing, resting, and slowly exploring nearby vegetation. Their diet is mainly milk, with small tastes of soft leaves, fruit, and stems as they grow. A notable fact is their powerful grasp, which helps them hold onto an adult while moving through the forest.
