Okapi
Okapia johnstoni
Adult okapis live mostly solitary lives in the rainforests of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, moving quietly through thick understory. They browse leaves, buds, fruits, fungi, and other plant material, using a long prehensile tongue to pull food from branches. Their dark body and zebra-like leg stripes break up their outline in forest shade. Despite their horse-like appearance, their closest living relative is the giraffe.
