Eurasian Tree Sparrow Chick
Passer montanus (chick)

Nestling Eurasian Tree Sparrows remain in the nest but are larger, feathering out, and much more active when begging for food. They live in tree holes, building cavities, nest boxes, and other sheltered sites near farmland, villages, gardens, and woodland edges. Their diet is still mostly insects and larvae supplied by adults, though plant foods become more important later. One notable fact is that tree sparrow nestlings develop the distinctive cheek patch pattern only as their juvenile plumage fills in.
