Orange-tip
Anthocharis cardamines

Flies in spring across meadows, lanes, woodland rides, gardens, and hedgerows where its larval food plants grow. Adults drink nectar from flowers such as cuckooflower and bluebell, while males patrol quickly in search of mates. When resting, the green-mottled underside of the hindwings blends well with flower heads and fresh vegetation. The orange tips are mainly seen on males, making them one of the most recognizable early-season butterflies in Europe.
