Red Panda
Ailurus fulgens

The adult red panda lives in temperate mountain forests with dense bamboo understories, especially in the eastern Himalayas and nearby regions. It is mostly solitary and crepuscular, climbing well and moving through trees with help from sharp claws and a long balancing tail. Its diet is dominated by bamboo, though it also eats fruit, acorns, eggs, and small animals when available. A notable fact is that it has a modified wrist bone functioning like a false thumb to grip bamboo stems.
