Elk
Cervus canadensis

Elk are large deer of forests, meadows, mountain valleys, and open parklands across North America and parts of Asia. They graze on grasses and sedges and browse shrubs, bark, and twigs, often shifting between open feeding areas and sheltered cover. Males use their antlers and loud bugling calls during the rut to compete for mates, while females defend calves with powerful kicks. Their antlers are shed and regrown every year, reaching impressive size before the breeding season.
