Lined Seahorse Fry
Hippocampus erectus (fry)

Newly released lined seahorse fry drift in warm coastal plankton around seagrass beds, mangroves, and estuaries. They feed on copepod nauplii and other microscopic crustaceans by snapping them up with a tiny tube snout. The fry are independent from birth and receive no parental care after leaving the male's brood pouch. Most remain near the surface until large enough to grasp vegetation with the tail.
