Sun Parakeet Hatchling
Aratinga solstitialis (hatchling)

A newly hatched sun parakeet stays hidden inside a tree cavity nest in tropical woodland and savanna-edge forest. It is mostly helpless, with closed eyes at first and sparse down, relying on soft calls and gaping to be fed. Its diet is regurgitated fruit pulp, seeds, and plant matter brought by the parents. One notable feature is how quickly bright pin-feathers begin to replace the bare hatchling skin as it grows.
