Coconut Rhinoceros Beetle Pupa
Oryctes rhinoceros (pupa)

The pupa rests inside a compact chamber made from soil, fibers, and decaying plant matter. It does not feed, instead using stored larval energy while its adult legs, wings, and horn form beneath the pupal skin. Its tougher outer case helps protect it during this mostly motionless stage. A notable feature is the visible outline of the future adult horn and wing covers before emergence.
